A condo ad explains why people cycle in Tokyo

Condo ads briefly explain what are appealing to people, and at the same time, what are the reasons of a relatively high bicycle modal share (*) in Tokyo.

* According to the national population census (2010), people cycle to work or school amount 15.87 percent (bicycle only: 10.94 percent; bicycle+train: 4.93 percent) in Suginami ward. There are many communities which have a lot higher bicycle modal share among the 23 wards in Tokyo and the score of Suginami is relatively moderate.



It reads "easy going cycling with your children along the river" and "there is no nuisance of motor traffic and we can ride comfortably!"


Travel times by bike (and by foot) to the four near train stations and the shopping streets. It implies that you do not need a car to shop or commute. However, it is walking time that is normally used to indicate the vicinity to the nearest train station. This estate will be considered to be rather away.


160 bicycle racks for 80 rooms. In such a bicycle friendly environment, every family members would like to have their own bicycle, so this may fall short. Nevertheless the developer provides 8 free share bicycles (of which 4 are e-bike) for the dwellers.


After the 3.11 earthquake many developers started to mention the ground rigidity (when they can show with confidence),
